What is the Teaching for Democracy Alliance (TFDA)?
TFDA believes in providing students with the tools to become civically engaged and informed citizens. The organizations that are a part of TFDA are working together to equip K-12 teachers and administrators to talk about elections and voting in a safe, productive, and educational way.
TFDA is coordinated by CIRCLE, which is part of Tufts University's Tisch College of Civic Life.

Why is this Alliance so important?
Young people are an important part of the electorate and their voices matter. Schools provide the unique opportunity to help students develop civically conscious minds and long-lasting voting habits. We believe action-based civic education empowers students to become active members of their community and encourages students to change the world for the better. Furthermore, civic education opportunities in middle and high school have been proven to increase an individual's likelihood to vote.
