CLASSROOM RESOURCES
  • iCivics' Win the White House game lets students run their own presidential campaign- from picking your candidate’s platform to executing a national strategy.
  • A new resource in 2016, NAMLE's Every Teacher’s Guide to Debate, Media, and Speech in the Classroom, including lesson prompts for evaluating media and debating the issues, as well as other media literacy resources.
  • iCivics' Election Guide helps you navigate free games, lessons and activities for your classroom.
  • The NCSS Teachers’ Library has multiple resources for teaching about elections and voting.
  • The C3 Framework also provides significant opportunity to discuss active and engaged citizenship, like this example from CA.
  • Help students discuss controversial public policy issues surrounding voting rights, and campaign finance reform using these Close Up In Class materials. CloseUp also has a lesson plan about the journey to women’s suffrage.
  • Help your students understand issues surrounding youth voting rights and prepare students for their first vote with this lesson plan.
  • Additionally, CloseUp has a two-part lesson plan Teach the Vote, and worked with The Center on Congress to create a video on voting.
